Creative Visualization

Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously and never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop this picture!

Visualization is a powerful tool that leverages focused thought, intention, imagination, and emotion, and it can be used to manifest that which you most desire. It’s a relatively simple practice that requires repetitive focus, but to be effective, it must be seasoned with belief, detachment, feeling, and flexibility. To achieve that, first set aside time on a regular basis to quiet your mind, relax your body, and slow your breathing, and then conjure up images in your mind of what you want to attract or attain. These can be images of material objects you would like to have such as a home or vehicle, situations where you would like to prevail, people you want in your life, or places you want to be, among other things. Use your imagination, and include as much detail as possible. Allow yourself to picture your new reality without question, and let go of any negative thoughts or doubts that arise. Experience it in your mind as if it were the present, and feel the sensations as well as the positive emotions that result.

This practice can be used to attract what you want, and it can also be leveraged in such a way as to overcome the challenges you face. For example, if you’re anxious about an approaching event and you have a few minutes to spare, then find a quiet place where you can close your eyes and relax. Sit or lie down, and maintain good posture, keeping your spine straight and your shoulders back and relaxed. Begin by breathing deeply and slowly, allowing each inhalation to fill your abdominal area initially, followed by expansion of the chest. Consciously release any tension you notice stored in your body, such as in your shoulders or face, for example, and then allow your mind to clear and let go of any lingering thoughts or concerns. As you continue to relax and breathe, focus your thoughts on that which you desire. For example, when faced with difficulty, focus on the challenge before you, and visualize yourself handling it with ease. See events unfold to your advantage, and imagine yourself in an optimal situation. Even if you know certain adversity will be unavoidable, picture yourself rising above the fray and dealing with difficulties in a positive, successful manner. Know that you can succeed, and visualize it accordingly. This practice can be relaxing in and of itself, and it can also allow you to attract what you want.

Another simple and effective way in which to leverage the power of visualization is to create a vision board that will allow you to see pictures or images of what you plan to attract into your life. Obtain a suitable poster board of whatever size you find appropriate or utilize space on a private wall within your home. Then collect pictures of the things you would like to attain or attract from various sources, such as magazines, photos, drawings, or online sources. These should be meaningful to you and elicit positive feelings. Next, tape or paste those images onto your board to form a collage. Allow them to overlap, and arrange them in a manner that seems fitting to you, whether that’s free-formed, structured, or a combination of both. If desired, you can even write key words on some of the images that represent positive principles, such as love, prosperity, health, adventure, and the like. Finally, keep your board in a place where you can focus on it regularly. Do so with confidence, along with the belief that you can attain such desires and knowing that you deserve such good; however, be sure to complement that with a mind-set of detachment and flexibility. Remain open to the opportunities life presents, and adjust your goals to accommodate change. This practice alone can yield great results, so begin practicing visualization today if you don’t do it already.
